The 2011 edition of the festival started on Thursday, December 15, with a cultural/carnival procession led by carnival floats designed like a Yoruba traditional talking drum. The procession started from the State Cultural Centre, Alagbaka, Akure and moved very slowly through the popular Oba Adesida Road to Idanre.
Cultural troupes from different local government areas of the state and some other states in the country were also part of the procession and the display throughout the duration of the festival. The arrival of the float alongside the cultural troupes was received by the entire Idanre community with wild jubilation.
